Carl, you've shot church signs and signs of religious activity around this part of the country for a long time. Is it increasing, or changing as it grows in political influence? Or has it just always been there, but less evident?
Scott, I've been visiting and shooting in the southeast for a dozen or so years and I don't think the amount of overt religious declaration or activity has changed there. It has spread though. Far more of it now in New England than twenty years ago. I expect the dominance of right wing media like Faux News is largely responsible for that. Like the Nixon-era "moral majority" that famously, "wasn't either," religion is used by right wing extremists for political/financial advantage and the explosion of media access and participation spreads that.
