Goshen, Connecticut

"TibetFest 10, A Celebration of Tibetan Culture & Fund Raiser," opened today at the Fairgrounds in Goshen, CT. It will run through the weekend. There will be many vendors of crafts and foods, traditional Tibetan dancers, singers, and other performers, lectures, and political information on the Free Tibet movement. Perhaps the most fascinating element to me is the creation of the ephemeral sand mandala over the course of three days. I plan to check its progress tomorrow and be there for the final dissolution ceremony Sunday afternoon.

This is such a fascinating process. The Mandals are stunningly beautiful.

Yes, they are. And the final ceremony is incredibly moving. I hope to convey some of that with the pictures I make Sunday.
