Pond's Field, Roxbury, Connecticut

Roxbury International

Found myself near Painter Hill again yesterday and stopped in the late afternoon light to photograph the little airfield.

It's intriguing to me to see that little airplane fields like this one are the 1940s and 1950s, frozen in time. The quonset hut -- did they make them after 1950? The Ercoupe in the foreground wasn't made after the 1950s. Only the Cessna on the left in the background might be a youngster from about 1980. The light fits.

Such a sentimental scene indeed. Looks like a superb place to photograph. I want more!
