This outdoor advertising campaign might be a little more convincing if the billboards didn't show the same model pretending to be your local, loyal, service station owner in widely disparate locations. Loyal? I dunno. Local? Not so much.

I photographed this building from approximately the same position twenty-five years ago, using 4x5 color negative film. The ownership has changed repeatedly in the meantime and there have been a couple face-lifts, but the structure remains fascinating.

The gate allows the single track railroad line to pass through a section of the flood control wall.
