The third line on the sign, obscured by the snow, reads, "we buy almost anything."

After the Storm
Torrington, Connecticut
The snow has been over for 48 hours, but the weather remains gloomy and dim. Digging out continues.

Some spots got a lot more snow than others.

Snow Storm? What Snow Storm?
Woodbury, Connecticut
We seem to be in a little pocket that the storm just swirled around. There are reports of 20" of snow in New York City, a hundred miles south of here, and similar reports from Boston. But here, on the north side of the buildings where the high winds piled it up, the snow might be a foot deep. If there were an official measure of actual snowfall I don't think it would make six inches. More to come through the day though.

Snow
Woodbury, Connecticut
At 3:38 the snow is coming in for real and the light is fading fast. Maybe there really will be a thick fall by morning.
Storm Coming In
Woodbury, Connecticut
There's a big storm coming up from the south. Predictions are for up to twenty inches of snow, with blizzard-force winds at times. So far the view out the back door shows just a pretty dusting of white.

Christmas Morning
Waterbury, Connecticut
This morning I spent a couple hours walking around with a camera on the Christmas morning deserted streets of Waterbury. The shopping rush was certainly over. The only businesses that were open were the gas stations and one large chain drug store. But shop windows still were filled with Christmas cheer.

Frosty Family
Naugatuck, Connecticut
These ugly, tacky plastic blower-inflated "decorations" seem to be popping up everywhere. Remember when people used to make holiday decorations, as in hand-craft them?

We've Got a Long Way to Go
Union City, Connecticut
Found while walking yesterday along the Naugatuck river, on the foundation of a highway overpass and the wall of a footbridge across the river between Union City and Naugatuck. Depressing.
You could wonder why the swastika has been reversed, a mirror image of the way it was used by the Nazis, but in all likelihood it's just an error.

Entry to a beauty salon. I guess a pair of scissors and some masking tape is all you really need.

The big, slow-moving plane made me wonder how serious they are about enforcing all those posted regulations.
