Waterbury, Connecticut

Earlier this month I was playing around with the different formats available on the GF1 camera. When I went to a spot I thought might make a nice 16:9 proportion panorama, I disturbed a city slicker heron who took off and tooled along north up the Naugatuck river.

How many pixels are left when the image is skinnied down to 16 x 9?

Scott, it's a straight internal crop, to 4000x2280. The view, whether on the LCD or the EVF, of course reflects the crop and gives 100% framing.

This image works for me very well. I like that iuxtaposition of the heron against the chimneys and roofs - urban landscape at its best.

Thanks, Markus. It's one of those "90%" situations. Looking for something to suit the GF1's skinny format option, this looked like 90% of a picture. As I thought about framing, something startled the heron. That seemed to add at least another 5%, and I got off a few frames before he got too small to register.
