Carl, the most fitting German word for such a scenery would be "skurril" - translated best as odd and witty, somewhat whimsical. Fine, definitely making me smile.
I'm always fascinated when inanimate objects display, let's call it readable gesture. Sometimes it's very subtle and only "works" from a very specific, precise, viewpoint. But these pipes had so much gesture you'd swear they were moving. I think I found the best vantage point, but this time any number of shooting positions would have picked up at least some of the effect.
