Convincing image, Carl - a lot of details work perfectly together to create that mood of reality in absurdum (or vice versa). I fully agree with David here.
The boards provide lines leading to infinity, providing a sense of perspective, and somehow to clouds above provide a kind of reflection of intent of reaching towards the horizon. Works well together indeed.

Thanks...a large part of it is the unusual glowing overcast light that ties all the elements together.
