Last Set from Hartford Women's Rally
Hartford, Connecticut, 1/21/17
UPDATE:
In the first of these posts I mentioned that I don't know how to do crowd estimates, but that I thought this was two or three times as big as the largest "tea party" protest, which I recall was about 3,000 back in 2010. People who are trained in crowd estimation are calling Saturday's gathering at 10,000+. Pretty impressive for a state the size of Connecticut.

Women's Rally, Hartford
Hartford, Connecticut
There was a, well, huge, crowd at the Hartford sister march today. I don't know how to do crowd estimates, but I can say that, based on the density of the crowd and the amount of Capital Building real estate they took up, they had to outnumber by a factor of two or three the crowd that assembled for a big "tea party" rally here several years ago. Also, the signs are a whole lot more clever.

Color Photograph
Litchfield, Connecticut
Wednesday's ice storm made for some very subtle color effects, as at this garden center at eight in the morning. Colorless and drab seems like a good theme for today.

Ice!
Otis, Massachusetts
Yesterday it was raw and rainy, but just north and up into Massachusetts there was a mild ice storm. Not enough to do a lot of damage, but everything was coated with a thin layer of ice.

Can't You Find Your Keys?
Woodbury, Connecticut
Asks Roxy, as I return from a late afternoon errand, reaching for my keys, in the breezeway, before entering the kitchen door.

Snow
Woodbury, Connecticut
Storm coming in, but not predicted to be anywhere near what's headed for the southern states. They're forecasting just three inches here. Of course, a couple weeks ago they predicted three inches and we got eleven—and I hadn't gotten gas for the snow blower. This time the tank is full and ready to go.

New Year's Concert
Washington, Connecticut
Yesterday, in what is now a five-year tradition, the New Baroque Soloists performed a concert sponsored by the Washington Friends of Music. They played music by Bach, Handel, Quantz, and Zipoli in the beautiful Meeting House at the Green in Washington, CT.
