I love trees of all sorts and sizes. In fact I just recently read a book titled, "Evergreen—the trees that shaped America". It details the centrality of evergreen trees to the economy and society that became the U.S. Forget the Boston Tea Party, the Crown's demand to cut and hand over all of the best tall pines for the Navy set off protest and near rebellion in the decade before 1776. Later, the vast supply of pine and fir to be made into dimensional lumber set off the enormous housing boom with the development of balloon frame structures. Etc, etc. Fascinating.
