At Steep Rock Preserve Hidden Valley, a year-round small stream flows down the steep eastern flank of the Shepaug River valley. It's about six inches wide on this February afternoon. In summer it can almost dry up, or overflow the rocks after heavy rains. Sometimes it turns into a mini-glacier that overflows the rocks.
