Storefront, Clay, West Virginia

Sometimes I would really like to know the backstory behind a subject. The store is derelict, but some of the merchandise is recent. The picture taped to the glass must be a memorial, but I couldn't find anyone to ask about it.

Are U sure it isn't a recruiting broadsheet pamphlet, given the text and logo? "take on, join the army, be a man" After all, recuiters do like to look for cannon fodder in depressed areas.

I can't decipher the text from the original file, but I did pixel-peep the shot at 100% and the star shape which I had unconsiously read as an add-on turns out to be part of the printed piece. So it may well be a rercruitment brochure page. But something about the way it is taped to the window is very un-regulation. The backstory remains a mystery. About ten days ago I shot a newly vacated recruitment center in far northern NY state, near the Canada border. I think you've given me the idea for tomorrow's post...
