Cricket at Cromwell

Cromwell, Connecticut

Cromwell is a small, old, town not far south of the state capital, Hartford. I was exploring the area yesterday hoping to do some pictures in stormy light, though the conditions stayed more of a murky overcast. The faded flag painted on a concrete wall in the town athletic fields caught my eye, along with the large pipes laid out all around the field obviously awaiting a construction project. Then something caught my eye—unusual action by the young men on the baseball diamond. It was quite a double take before I figured out they were playing cricket.

Of course. They are Indian (from the sub-continent). Whenever I would visit IBM's Almaden Lab (just a bit south of San Jose CA, there would be lunchtime cricket played outside the building.
