Early on a summer morning at White's Memorial. The heron is nearly dead center in the picture, in the mist rising from the water. The beaver is crossing the stream, low center.

This one reminds me that I haven't seen too many non-urban landscapes from you lately. Glad to see you are getting out in the country again, and early in the morning. I like it.
The light can be beautiful at either the beginning or end of the day, but visible atmosphere like rising mist or fog is much more likely in the morning. The other thing, not so important for urban locations but significant in most country settings is that stuff--leaves, flowers, dirt, tree bark--tends to be dessicated by the end of the day. First thing in the morning all of this stuff is richer looking, in b&w as well as color pictures.
It's interesting that you said '..in b&w as well...'. When I first saw this, I thought it was B&W!..Perhaps some images work better in B&W, some in color, and maybe, some just transcend either - pure image???? Do ever come across a scene where you think it doesn't matter what camera or 'capture' that is used?
Lyle, I suspect choice of medium and camera format always make a difference, but I'm not convinced that there is always (even mostly) a single correct or even best choice. Medium and format affect interpretation, but multiple interpretations may all be valid and convincing in their own ways.

Really nice, I need to drag my sorry butt out early one of these days before summer ends.
