I have lived and traveled in NY all my life, 62 years, and never once heard of this place.
Don, it is pretty remote. You are above the Adirondack Park, across the shoulder of the geological dome, and sitting right at the border with Canada. The town center is very small, but the map shows quite a lot of land area.
