No matter what, get the shot. I like Hudson hope to see how you did there.

Is that a new camera or did I miss something? It looks very handy.

James, it's a Panasonic Lumix GF1, and I've had it for almost exactly a year now. It's micro-4/3s format, and I have the 20mm f/1.7 and 14mm f/2.5 lenses, plus the accessory electronic viewfinder that fits in the hot shoe.

The quality of the files is so good that it has taken over essentially all of my digital capture photography.

Wow! I am about to travel for a month in France and would love not lugging all of my Pentax gear every day. I see that they have 3 or 4 different models, so I'm off to campare.

James, the GF1 has been discontinued. I don't like the GF2 because I think they went a step too far in miniaturization, resulting in too many menu-based operations.

I am very interested in the new G3 but it is not available from the usual suppliers--perhaps a distribution problem from the tsunami. The G3 has a very good built-in EVF (the accessory EVF for the GF1/2 is accurate but low resolution). The G3 EVF is (visually) bigger, brighter, and high resolution, while the camera is hardly larger than the GF1. The GH2 is significantly larger, though still smaller than even a K5, and of course the lenses are much smaller than equivalent lenses for APS-C. The trouble is that it too is currently unavailable at the big places like B&S and Adorama.

The big advantage of the GF2 is that it's in stock! It's inexpensive enough that in your situation I'd seriously consider getting it and a 20mm, plus the EVF unless you don't mind composing on the LCD. It could then remain your "jacket pocket camera" even if you later go with a G3 or GH2 when they become available.
