DO NOT DISTURB

Vicinity of Ruskin, Florida
detail

The Big Bend coal-fired power plant is, as you'd expect, the center of some controversy. One result is that restoration projects are moving forward in surrounding lands, and special care is taken over an area where large numbers of manatees congregate during winter to enjoy the warmth of the water near the plant. It's too early in the season for them to arrive, but this afternoon I watched dolphins playing among the boat slips visible from Artist-in Residence Headquarters, on the Bay.

Gorgeous picture! Even on my mediocre monitor, the tones in the smoke and clouds are fascinating.

Thanks, ed. I'm finding plenty of stuff to make pictures of down here.
