Fields in Sunlight

Woodbury, Connecticut

Clear, hard sunlight is seldom my choice for looking at anything, country landscape in particular, but the nearly blinding sunlight late yesterday afternoon did some fascinating things with the color and texture of the slowly emerging spring foliage.

Everyone seems to be ready for spring to arrive this year! Here in eastern Nebraska we had several inches of snow last Thursday morning, gone by late afternoon.

It looks to me like the difference between this morning's pictures and those of a few days ago is the green grass notes coming up behind the delicate first tree foliage and removing the white light around them. I always loved the first tree flowering in New England, the grass less so. (But I don't have allergies.)
