Fishing, the perfect excuse to sit for hours looking at the sea.
So is (for example) taking pictures of a shoreline with slow lines of incoming waves, each new one curling and shooting sideways in a way which subjectively feels as if it might be the same as the last, but which turns out to be entirely new... We would not sit in the same way for very long, to contemplate something which repeated perfectly - such as, an escalator or a conveyor belt.
Variation within a framework pattern is endlessly fascinating.
