Impressive, certainly. Ecologically probably more moon-like, unfortunately.

Closer inspection of the image seems to show awns on the spikes (my dictionary is somewhat unsharp on those terms) - but I can't enlarge it enough to be sure - then it should be barley, isn't it?

Looks like wheat country! Heading back east I see! Getting tired of driving yet? ;-)

Markus, you may be right, come to think of it wheat fields have been more "golden" and less green. Without irrigation of course this is all desert.

John, just tired, not especially of driving. I like to drive and the HHR is a nice little touring car, but the hours on the trip are just too long.
