Re. "Das Boot" in the first image: The German word "Boot" means boat in English, and "Das Boot" is the title of a well known movie about a German Submarine and its crew in WWII (imdb link). The typeface here would also hint to this movie as origin. Weird...
Ybor City was a center for cigar factories with Cuban immigrant workers. After various ups and downs a lot of the factory buildings are converted to commercial and residential lofts and the streets, bars, and cafes are where the local hipster "in crowd" apparently goes in the evening in preference to Tampa. The sign in the window is likely an intentional pun with full knowledge of the movie.
Martina, it is a pretty weird place. It also has a history as something of an artist colony--some cigar factories have been converted to loft space, so that adds to the mix.
On the boot, at least it appears to be made out of beer ;-)

The boot in the window reminds me of the movie Christmas Story with the stocking leg lamp in the window
I had almost the same reaction as Markus: "this is weird!".
With the boot in form of a jackboot - duh, not a bar I would visit.
Judging from the shop windows Ybor City seems to be a weird town on the whole ;-)
