Was looking at "Peacock _uctionee" yesterday and really liked it. Looked again today and I think why this image works so well for me the building looks like a poster, a billboard. Almost like it is hanging from the wires. The wires remind me of a musical score (although I really don't know how many lines are drawn on a real score!). The boat on the right side? This image really shows the unique power of a photograph - of 'proper' selection.

Thanks, Lyle. One thing is that this is done with a wider lens than usual for WP, so is taking in more stuff out in front of the camera. Then framing so that only the front facade of the building is visible, but from an angle rather that squared up, Walker Evans style, is an unusual camera position. It's just where everything seemed to look right for this shot.
