I am wondering what's the difference is between this photo and all the others on wp. I know it's different but I don't know why.
It's a litte bit surreal with the hand sign pointing away and the PID attached to the CocaCola vending machine. Almost indoors, but not really indoors.

Martina, inside-outside is right on target. This is the back entry to the Yankee Pedlar Inn. These were once exterior walls, before someone decided to close in what was probably an open porch and make it into a hallway.

Regarding your winter this wasn't such a bad idea, hm? ;-)

What's a PID?

Carl Weese said...

Edd, we've got to ask Martina. I was going to say the same thing...

LOL - PID - I have to depend on the English wikipedia, I am sorry.
What's your expression for this thing?

Martina, I guess we'd just say "motion detector." Or "automatic light switch thingy..."

Okay - "automatic light switch thingy" sounds fine.
But ... remember our conversation about abbrevations? I thought PID would be really the appropriate thing to say, ;-)
"motion detector" is exactly what we say in German -- I guess this was too easy for me ...

Martina, you are right. At five syllables,"motion detector" is much too long a name, but I don't recall ever encountering an abbreviation for it.

So .. PID! No one will know what you are talking about, but hey ... .
