Sunshine

Bristol, Connecticut

This former gas station and convenience store would seem to have an ideal location. It's half a mile out of town on Main Street, next to a large park that was greatly upgraded in the past year with lots of new facilities. But it's been vacant for years, with no takers.

Carl, I like the red posts and the pile of snow in the foreground. And public phones are quickly disappearing, remnants of the "pre-cell" days. Wonder how many (if any) are still in working order?

Edd, there's no phone there. But they haven't bothered to remove the skeleton. What I've noticed is that around here, in hilly western CT, there are still public phones in areas that do not yet have cell phone coverage. The other place you still find them is in distressed inner city neighborhoods, where people still need them.
