Is there a circle of cabins or other sorts of summer housing behind the sign that would explain the "Circle" title? There's the remains of an 1800s summer camp meeting setting in Ossining, NY, that would fit this description, and I think it was also Methodist. Or Oak Bluffs, on Martha's Vineyard.

The "private" sign was quite explicit, so I didn't venture in to see if the circle is metaphorical or actual.
