My car is 15 years old, and Bettina’s is nearly 20, so over the past 8-10 years I’ve been a somewhat frequent customer at Major Muffler on South Main Street in Waterbury. Behind the commercial strip of businesses on the west side of the street, between them and the Naugatuck River, there’s an elevated pedestrian/cyclist pathway. Yesterday, while they were cutting out a rotten muffler connector pipe and welding a new connection, I took a short walk along the river under heavy overcast skies.
