Lovely. Almost abstract.

Martina, the bright spots along the left side of the picture are reflected light from windows...

Aaaaaaah. Now that you say it. Of course. I thought they were just, well, brighter spots. Thx.

Spooky! I like it a lot.

Fine. The photograph is open to interpretations. I wonder whether the paint is graffiti, or is it roadwork markings, saying "the pipe goes under here" or something such.

Juha, they're municipal markings, but I don't know the code. This is directly off Main Street, which was just completely redone—widened, new curbs, sidewalks, and paving. Could be a connection.

I guess there has to be some kind of codebook for the markings, the style is certainly interesting, almost like music notation.

I couldn't resist searching. Here's part of the code:

So, this looks like a gas line. Could be "G" for gas, just to be more explicit, or "6" to indicate diameter of the pipe?

Mike, gas lines sounds right based on where the markings are in relation to the building walls. I'll follow your link to the utility locator. I wonder how "universal" the codes are?
