Vivid Green Moss

Washington, Connecticut

We've been having some miserable weather recently here in Western Connecticut—lots of rain with temperatures just high enough to avoid snow. I find these conditions much more uncomfortable than solidly sub-freezing temperatures, though at least there's no snow to shovel. On a walk around Steep Rock Preserve yesterday I found several spots where rocks and trees were covered in the most extraordinary vivid green moss. I guess something likes this cold wet weather.
