Reminds me of Europe, with all the street-corner Christian icons. I don't get it, but no direct harm to me, so I let it roll along…

Waterbury when it was a manufacturing center had a big Italian immigrant population and more recently has had a big influx of hispanic citizens so there are a lot of Catholic churches and Catholic private shrines. Christian iconography all over. The older parts of the city also have a bit of a European feel—likely a combination of the era the houses and stores were built and the fact that the builders/owners/tenants were recent immigrants. I should make a project of shooting the front yard shrines systematically.
