Waterbury, Connecticut
It was not cloudy or overcast around eight o'clock yerterday morning in Waterbury. The sky was pale and attenuated, just barely more blue than neutral gray. Views across the river valley were hazed over almost like a fog. It's nearly three thousand miles from western Connecticut to the West Coast wildfires, but the smoke is here. It's thicker in the upper atmosphere, but at ground level the air doesn't smell right.
Not what an overcast sky looks like around here ordinarily, because it's not an overcast sky.
Warm, sunrise/sunset colors infuse the smoke/haze view across the Naugatuck River valley, nearly three hours after sunrise.
