On a side note: Such street vendors have basically vanished from the streets of those German cities I've visited in the last decade. In Livingstone street vendors offer water melons this way, but not much else. So this is definitely something extraordinary for me.
Markus, he was on his way to the Memorial Day Parade route. We don't see someone like this except at special events. What we do have all over urban areas are "food trucks." These are trucks or trailers that offer cooked food, often ethnic and even pretty exotic, though taco trucks are probably the most common.
