Grocery Store Polar Bear

Woodbury, Connecticut

Despite the snow, we are able, from time to time, to get out for provisions. But I'm getting very bored with aerobic snow shoveling.

So many things to comment about in this one. I guess the bear would need to be near the cooler? The lighting seems to work nicely here and that old photo on the wall sets the right nostalgic mood. I'm still amazed to see watermelon and such in February.

Robert,

Yes, it's hard to be a "locovore" during the New England winter. Some of this fresh produce coming from south or central America is no more expensive than local vegetables in season. Which means our entire food production/distribution system is crazy.

The nostalgic pictures went up when the store was remodeled and expanded recently. It has been in the same family for three generations, as part of the IGA (Independent Grocers Association).
