IHP/ Hong Kong

Hong Kong, 1969

After Japan, the IHP group traveled to Hong Kong. There weren't enough available local families to go around, so six or seven of us ended up staying at the Y, which was kind of disappointing. The reason we had a long stay in the city was of course because in 1969 there was no question of a group of American students getting into China itself. So there were a lot of lectures by local scholars and much less independent travel for individual students. In retrospect I'm surprised at how little I shot in Hong Kong, and find I have only a few pictures that I really like.

Thanks, Martina. The trip was a great chance to practice, to concentrate fully on what I wanted to do once I was out of school.
